We will do Kundalini yoga without noticing it: in this workshop we learn to give love, pleasure and relaxation to our partner and to all of those we want to give healing.

It’s going to be touching, exchange of pressure, meditation and singing: in every moment we will receive the cellular cleaning produced by the shilling bowls and bells and we will bathe our bodies with divine energy (deeksha). This is a workshop to learn variations and techniques to share in the jams or your own life:  a way to get close to another person giving the most pure of you.

The Voice-Body through Emotions – Milla Caputte http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/the-voice-body-through-emotions-milla-caputte/ http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/the-voice-body-through-emotions-milla-caputte/#comments Tue, 12 Apr 2011 06:10:48 +0000 http://2011.touchandplay.org/?page_id=1521 What happens at the meeting of one or more bodies in space? And if the voice joins the play?

The workshop “Voice-body through the emotions” invites you to dive into our invisible body: the voice. A free body is a fertile ground for a free voice. The sound produced and resonated by a body-tool runs through the physical space in the form of vibratory waves, reflecting your current emotional vibrational-state. Therefore, experiment with emotions becomes a valuable tool to access internal and external spaces previously not covered by the sound-motion. Through movement (contact improvisation) and sound (basic voice techniques) we can transition between various states of being, expressing our creative totality.

When we are in a continuous movement flow, we enter into a meditative state where we become the agent of the action and at the same time a conscious witness, leaving the duality of everyday mind that fragments facts into right and wrong. All happenings are part of a spiral where everything is positive and negative; everything is a duality within the unity that is perfection!

The voice is one more palette of colors that can be used in this context of dancing the present moment. Practising listening to one another and yourself until there is no more separation creates a unique movement-sound body traversing the time-space.

The “Voice-body through the Emotions” workshop intends to investigate the state of the body as flesh, bone, emotion and sound!

There are voices that sing and move in me and I just open space to their expression and existence!

Purpose: awakening the expressive freedom that exists in each one of us through contact improvisation and through the connection with our capacity to produce infinite sounds

For whom: all people in the path of self-knowledge, not necessarily with previous experience in contact improvisation andor voice work

Conclusion: at the end of the course we will make a big wheel (round robin), where participants take turns between three roles: mover, spectator and sounder. The sounders will improvise around a Brazilian ritualistic song learned in class.

The Sensory-Motor Loop – Beu Tornaghi http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/the-sensory-motor-loop-beu-tornaghi/ http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/the-sensory-motor-loop-beu-tornaghi/#comments Tue, 12 Apr 2011 05:36:32 +0000 http://2011.touchandplay.org/?page_id=1517 EcoCreative Research focusing on/through the sensory-motor loop challenging understandings and questioning perception, balancing attention and intention.

This research is about delving into the sensory-motor cycle, that is the relationship between perception and action, as constructing an understanding of the world. The focus goes to the relationships of the body in nature - recognizing that everything is interconnected and every body-microcosm is indeed a component of other body-macrocosm (and vice versa, to the immeasurable).

Using information such as anatomy, physiology, ecology, to give directions to follow through in the research, experiencing concepts with embodiment, creating an inventory of affinities and metaphors inherent to the cyclical patterns that can be observed in the micro and the macrocosm.

Fostering the intention of listening, it is quite essential to this work to maintain a direct relationship with nature (and having the least possible urban interference). The search for a state of perception out of the ordinary, where the boundaries of perception and action, expression, become diffuse and questionable, input and output melt into one another, accepting the vulnerability of the state of “not knowing”, “non-doing”, and perhaps to ”non-being.” BEING THE MOMENT.

The demand for different qualities of presence is a central idea in Improvisation. Experimenting with different focuses and parameters to react to the present moment, we establish the scores that make space for the freedom of new perceptions and behaviors.

Tantric Doorways into Contact — Jocasta Crofts http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/tantric-doorways-into-contact/ http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/tantric-doorways-into-contact/#comments Wed, 16 Mar 2011 23:31:15 +0000 http://2011.touchandplay.org/?page_id=700 Tantric Doorways into Contact — Jocasta Crofts

My name is Jocasta. I practise Tantra, both couples, singles and solo work. So far a large part of my journey has been about sexual healing. So now I also offer that to others. To me Tantra is a way of living life as well as a meditative practise. My experience of it is that it includes everything, every feeling, thought, emotion or state can be a doorway into Tantra.

It is all life energy – When you welcome what is there and go with it, you release that energy and can use it to dance through a door. Tantra includes sexuality and harnesses it’s energy, because sexual energy is base life energy.

I feel Contact Improvisation and Tantra are often dancing hand in hand inside of me. I would like to offer a space to go deep into meditative practises using breath, opening the senses, working with the energy that is generated by the male/female polarity, moving energy through the body centers of the Chakras. All these will be our doorways to open our dance, alone or together.

The space will be intimate, experiential, in movement and in stillness. It will be held as ritual sacred space. A balance of men and women would be ideal.

My relevant experience:

Tantra

  • 1 year couples training with Sky Dancing Uk.
  • Lots of singles work with Geho, Sarita and Margo Anand.
  • Many hours of homeplay with my beloved, other people and by myself.
  • Tantric healing massage sessions – 4 hand or solo sessions.

Contact Improvisation

  • Dancing it since 1996 – 3 years in Outokumpu dance school, Finland.
  • Many visits to Earthdance
  • Teachers worked with: Nancy Stark Smith, Martin keogh, Ray Chung, Charley Morrissey and more…
  • Attending festivals:Freiburg, Earthdance, Nim, Gottingen, Ibiza, London, Burning man
  • Organising: Bristol regional jams

Undercurrents — Jamus Wood & Lee Bolton http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/undercurrents/ http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/undercurrents/#comments Wed, 16 Mar 2011 00:34:29 +0000 http://2011.touchandplay.org/?page_id=724 When we dance we are dancing everything we are seeing, feeling, thinking; past, present, future. Yet so much of our energy goes into preferencing this and much of who we are goes unshared, unoffered or ungiven. What if we were to truly bring all of ourselves in each moment, and trust that who we are and how we are is more than enough, and in fact is a creative act in itself.

This workshop is an enquiry into what we are actively not thinking, actively not feeling and actively not sensing. How we can bring this sensory landscape into our dancing and relationship with another with the possibility of sharing more of who we are. Imagine the freedom we can create when we can trust ourselves. When we can trust ourself an active commitment to what we are dancing can follow

Tantra: Movements of the Soul — Xavier Domenech http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/tantra-movements-of-the-soul/ http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/tantra-movements-of-the-soul/#comments Wed, 16 Mar 2011 00:12:51 +0000 http://2011.touchandplay.org/?page_id=717

In this proposal, we aim to work out how we experience our soul, spirit or essence, in relation to our sexuality and our masculine and feminine poles. In that way we connect with the truth of the movement of our body. We don’t propose to create a way of being and relating. It is a proposal that aims to discover which is now, this moment, our most intrinsic way of relating, marked in our present attitude in life. Once we know which is the way we relate, we can provide more presence and love, and it will grow by itself, it will blossom on its own. We will create a space with minimum intention, that will help us to recognize our innermost movements of the soul.

We will explore these movements:

  • My relationship with my sex
  • My sexuality outside
  • The relationship between my inner man and my inner woman
  • Tantra, love and sex

We will create a space where love enters sexuality. Sexual energy is being repressed for centuries within ourselves, in our society and our way of relating. It is the most basic of our energies, and this can only grow and expand through one way: Love. Love yourself, love your sexual energy, breathe it, feel it, embrace it, give it space to express how it feels, what is bothering it and what is what it really likes. Don’t force it to anything, make it your friend. The human body and sexuality is an extremely sensitive organism. It should be loved, honored and taken care off. When you start to love your sexuality, it begins to take the space it deserves and that’s when it really happens. Mystics call it transformation.

We will explore:

  • Embracing our sexuality
  • Connecting the heart with the sex
  • Awakening the inner lover

CI as Spiritual / Tantric meditation — Sabine Sonnenschein http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/ci-as-spiritual-tantric-meditation/ http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/ci-as-spiritual-tantric-meditation/#comments Tue, 15 Mar 2011 23:52:54 +0000 http://2011.touchandplay.org/?page_id=726 CI, as a tantric practice, means experiencing an “us,” which arises from non-intentionality, from improvization, and from the moment.

Dancing has neither future nor destination, but is always now, in this moment. We are present in dance in the present. A deep encounter becomes possible, if I am not looking for anything from you nor you from me. A deep encounter becomes possible, when I don’t just use you to feel myself and when my ego does not instrumentalize you, but instead, becomes silent and we experience each other; and also the space.

“Us” means (hearing, seeing, feeling) each other. We do not lose ourselves in one other when our awareness of the space brings us into harmony with the systole and diastole of the universe.

My interest is touch as listening: being present in a stop (of the movement), where you feel the movement of breathing very well, and also being present in bigger movement, that happens together.

when am I aware oft he space? when not?

when am I listening in the touch? When do i just feel myself in the touch?

Loveenergy (heartenergy, joy, bliss, opening, perhaps combined with sexual energy) arises because of the movement and nourishes the dance.

It’s important to avoid high sexual arousal, i think, for there is high pressure, which needs to be discharged.

My approach is that loveenergy and sexual energy are here in this context to nourish the dance, this means the dancers don’t lose the awareness of the space and, time and again, they find from a small dance to a dance expanding into the space.

In the tantric ritual of union, maithuna (or karmamudra in the buddhist tradition), where silent sexual union takes place, the expansion into the space and awareness of the space is essential.

Authentic Contact — Guto Macedo http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/authentic-contact/ http://2011.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/authentic-contact/#comments Tue, 15 Mar 2011 23:51:14 +0000 http://2011.touchandplay.org/?page_id=698 Authentic Contact is an investigation based on the encounter of Authentic Movement and Contact Improvisation that I’ve been doing since 2003 in partnership with Soraya Jorge, Authentic Movement Introducer in Brazil. She attended the Authentic Movement Institute(CA/ USA)) and worked with Janet Adler, the creator of the Authentic Movement System, for 8 years in the nineties.

Short Description

The setting of work I created with Soraya Jorge is not Contact Improvisation or Authentic Movement. It is a relationship that is established between the forms, the intersection, the sharing, the hybridization. It is not one or the other. In Authentic Contact, there is no loss of the point of view of each approach, although it demands detachment from their original forms.

Long Description

What is it to be a witness? How does the witness influence the establishment of a group mind, a shared energy? Can we move and be a witness at the same time? How can we share the witnessing through the movement? How can the re-cognition of the personal physical limits be a focus of amplitude of space and movement (internal and external)? How can we keep researching intensities widely touched by emotions, sensations, feelings, thoughts,…?

The alchemy of our affections goes across borders, perspire, in the blank of our meetings, the continuous change of skin, the deepness of ours folds.

We are going to explore many possibilities to be alive with these questions in the movements: to be and at the same time share the experience, to see and to be seen, to touch and be touched, to invite and to be invited, etc.,… not in an absolute sense, but as the emergence of a moment that is always in process. This embodied experience in the tactile space of the dance will offer us the potential to act on new levels of physical play and also on new levels of embodied involvement.

From Authentic Movement, we bring the concept of witness and the appropriation of judgment as part of the work in Movement Conscience. From Contact Improvisation, we bring the exploration of the biomechanical possibilities of the improvisers (touchers), the process of combining masses and weights as part of the way to improve the perception in the dance: new dovetails, flights, rolls and falls are not compulsory; they are only possibilities.
